Pro-EQ Platinum & Bass Platinum
The Pro-EQ Platinum and Bass Platinum were designed to be flagship products, introducing a fundamentally new look, expanding on an existing feature set, and maintaining very high reliability, while meeting a price target set by their competitor's less capable products.

One of the challenges on this project was to design a molded housing that would establish a unique appearance, protect the controls while not interfering with usability, and provide an image of ruggedness and durability. Before this, professional grade preamps had generally been of all-metal case construction, with plastic housings reserved for consumer-grade products. The dark grey housing is Polycarbonate, the light grey knobs are ABS, and the black underside is sheet steel. At the time of this writing, with the products on the market for over two years, not a single unit has been returned for mechanical failure.

Read a complete review of the Bass Platinum, including discussion of the user interface and mechanical design as perceived by some very demanding users. Here are some relevant excerpts from the review:

"The Platinum Bass is a tabletop outboard device measuring 7.75"x3.75 " and weighing about 2 ½ lbs. An injection-molded plastic façade surrounds the 12-gauge steel housing of the unit. Picking it up it feels substantial and tough. It is certainly built to withstand any and all of the abuse a unit could expect from the rigors of the road. On the top end is a flip out battery compartment, which unlike similar battery compartments is tough and sturdy with two side-mounted latches for security. The 9v battery clip itself, and it's wiring, is also tough and not likely to break in one of those heated and fast paced battery changes."

"As with all Fishman products I have used the construction is top notch, rugged and road-worthy. This unit in particular, with the molded bumpers adding extra protection to the steel-encased circuitry, appears to be designed to withstand more abuse than the average musician might dole out."
